Intel’s Moblin OS – What is it?

Moblin is a Linux based OS by Intel. It is touted as a custom Linux OS  geared towards media playing operations..


  • Moblin is getting a lot of space in the Netbook arena – notwithstanding the clout of Windows XP
  • Taiwan government will be helping Intel open up a new development center in Taiwan, which will be tasked with furthering the development of the OS and, hopefully, attract the interest of local companies like ASUS and Acer
  • It’s based on Fedora and
  • Moblin, in its Alpha form is confirmed to work on Acer’s Aspire One and Dell’s Mini
